Mosaic Art Show Opening March 28

Greetings!
I will have two pieces in a mosaic show that opens on March 28th as the Schwamb Mill (I've added a link to the Facebook page for the show).  If you're free and live near Arlington, MA, join me at the opening reception at 3:30.

In other news, I recently finished this lamp for a friend:

New Work

Even with all the snow days that we've had here in New England, I've been too busy to get into the studio every day this winter, but I did finish a piece last night that I am very happy with. 

All those little dark spots in the piece are ceramic figures:

A New Window for a New Year

Last fall, while on an antique hunt with Shelley White - my friend and flower artist extraordinaire (you can see her beautiful work over at her blog Bow Street Flowers)- I found a beautiful 4 foot by 2 foot antique cabinet door at the New England Demolition and Salvage in New Bedford, MA. (NOTE: Check this amazing place out before it closes! -- they are trying to sell the business, but if they cannot they will end up closing).  
Here is what I did with that cabinet door:

This piece is a promise of spring as we face another big snow storm here in New England.

It has been a year!

Hello, all!  
It has been almost one year since I posted here.  My absence is a sign of the absorbing work of healing that I have been engaged it. So much has changed since I sat down to compose a post here.  But I am not yet ready to try to put all of that into words.  So, I turn to pictures.

At the request of my dear mother, I am posting the mosaic work I have done since January 2014.

Snow Surprise!

It was supposed to rain all weekend, but here I sit by the fire on Sunday morning and the snow that started yesterday is still falling.  It's not a big storm -- last night there were only about two inches on the ground -- but it's one of those magical sticky snows that coat everything in a lovely white exoskeleton. 

So, Griffin and I had to take a walk in the woods yesterday!

 Griffin offered to go first under that branch weighted down with heavy, wet snow.  Kind boy!

  He ended up with a load of snow down the back of his collar.

We had a lovely, if wet, walk with plenty of photos:

Last pieces before the semester begins...

Here are the other two pieces of glasswork I was able to finish during semester break.  The window is for sale at Artisan's Way in Concord, MA.  The lamp is staying with me for a while, though I may sell it through Five Crows in Natick, MA after a month or two (sometimes I have to live with a piece before I can let go).

Now I'm off to get buried in course-prep and research on domestic space :)

I had to post the picture with the sun coming through in stripes!  Love it.

A New Window for the New Year

I've been back in the studio for a little creativity before the semester starts.  There are several pieces but only one is ready for viewing (actually, they are all grouted but I finished two of them after dark and couldn't photograph them properly).  So here is a picture of the window that I completed before the sun set:

This piece is 3' by 2.5' and looks wonderful in my front window -- though I will be selling it through Artisan's Way in Concord, MA (in case you like it). I will have to live with it for a while, though -- it's so hard to let them go at first!
I've got another window and a lamp to finish up this week. I'll post pictures when they're done.
